Conference/BOOKS(Bristol UP): how algorithms and digital monopolies shape politics

Adi Kuntsman

The first group of books that attracted my attention are these three monographs, each exploring what impacts digital politics.

The Political Economy of Digital Monopolies: Contradictions and Alternatives to Data Commodification focuses on the large tech corporations and their economic politics. The book explores how these technology giants are produced, financed, and regulated, documenting the power of digital capitalism and data commodification.

Algorithms and the End of Politics: How Technology Shapes 21st-Century American Life From capitalism to algorithms (the two, of course, are connected), this book, too, looks at giant platforms such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft, offering an analysis of their impact on political life and political legitimacy.
