Conference reporting/ BOOKS: MIT Press books on on-line democracy, activism, polarised speech, techno-solutions,and much, much more
One of the joys of attending an academic conference is visiting various book exhibits, seeing the new books that came out, chatting to publishers (and sometimes the authors, too), and, of course, coming home with a suitcase full of new books.
Can a virtual exhibit be the same? This year, Association of Internet Researchers is running its annual convention entirely on-line; and therefore the book stalls are virtual. Even without the excitement of hanging out by a crowded book exhibit, the new titles are extremely interesting. I will be posting a brief overview of the MIT Press virtual exhibit over several posts this week.
